The other night, we went out for dinner. Tats had researched a good steak house near our apartment, and, eager to sample the famous meat of Argentina, she led us to it en route home from our excursions in the earlier afternoon. I myself was less excited about the meat and more excited about the prospect of using the outing as a shared writing opportunity: We'd just begin to explore descriptive writing and sensory words, and our dinner at Don Julio's presented the perfect opportunity to apply our still new skills in this area So, I set the boys the task of recording a list of words for each of the five sense that would describe the restaurant. Then we combined our lists, and used aspects from it in co-written paragraph. Behold the (admittedly very rudimentary) fruit of our labours below: On Tuesday evening, we went to a restaurant called "Don Julio". The first thing we noticed was the wine bottles: There were hundreds of them lining the shelves on the walls. A black-cloaked waiter took us to our seats, and soon the table was filled with food: There was a basket of stick breads and warm, fresh buns with butter and home-made salsa, a big plate of french fries, tender chicken, potato-egg omelette, squishy ketchup bags and two kinds of salad! For desert, we had a soft, creamy chocolate mousse and a tangerine brownie. I (Simon) was hoping for a big brownie, but instead we got a tiny brownie topped by a mountain of tangerine ice cream! There was so much food, we took leftovers home for lunch the next day. I hope we can come back to Don Julio's for dinner again sometime!

Yes, daddy! We will take you there if and when you come in March. (BTW, Simon is now making plans that suggest he will be here after Christmas, so I guess Buenos Aires is winning him over, lol!)
