We've been reading a book called Sadako and mom wants us to answer some questions about it so here they are:
What is similar and different about life in Japan and life in Canada?
How does the author describe the relationship between Sadako and her friend?
What is similar and different about life in Japan and life in Canada?
One difference between Japan and Canada is in the holidays we celebrate. Japan celebrates holidays like Peace day and O Bon, but we don't have those holidays. Another difference is that houses in Japan often have curved roofs whereas in Canada our houses have roofs that are more square or triangular. One similarity between the two countries is that we both have track and field teams and other gym teams at our schools.
How does the author describe the relationship between Sadako and her friend?
The author describes it by using this simile: "The two were as close as two pine needles on the same twig". I think this is an effective simile because it really describes how close the two are. For an example, the author does not say "branch", because they are even closer -- they are on the same twig. Sadako's friend visits her in the hospital and tells her about the crane legend, and makes her first crane for her. She is a good friend.
