We went to visit my favourite tree the other day; it's the oldest in the city, about 200 years old, in Recoleta. The roots and branches form an amazing ecosystem, providing homes, shade and more benefits for birds, humans and other creatures in the city.
The boys love to climb, and trees like this really are perfect for climbing, though of course, one has to be mindful that this particular specimen is a "senior citizen".
Some of the branches are so big and heavy that they need to be supported by sturdy, metal beams! But the most impressive part to me is the massive trunk...
Sometimes, a couple dances Tango under the canopy. But today it was too hot for tango, even in the far-reaching shade of this magnificent, old tree!
