Went to the school this morning for one last visit, and to finally deliver the letters which Alex and Simon's class in Toronto had written in January, in response to the letters the Grade 4s had written here. (This year's school year in BsAs got off to a later start this year, due to the teacher strike at the end of the summer, in Feb.)
The boys also went back to visit last year's teacher, Mirta, who had invited us to come and speak to her new class. Alex and Simon answered questions from the Grade threes about school, about Canada, and about their lives in general.
The students were keen to show us their container gardens from Earth Day, so we went out onto the terraza to admire the lettuce and radishes just beginning to grow!

During recess, many of the students stayed inside to play with the Canada puzzles the boys had brought as a "good bye" gift, while Alex, Simon and I filmed a special greeting as part of the school's 140th anniversary celebrations.
Afterwards, we spent a few minutes in the "games" room, where the class goes a few times a week for imaginative play. What an amazing space -- like an extension of play-based kindergarten!
It's been a great pleasure and a privilege to spend time in this school while we've been here, and learn a little more about the local customs and trends in education in South America.
