A major storm forecast for this evening closed down all the parks (weather is a bit of a "thing" here, as we are discovering), and our rapidly growing trick-or-treat event threatened to turn into a bust real fast... BUT, we were saved at the last minute by a fabulous fellow who generously donated the use of his soon-to-open collaborative workspace, which was relatively nearby our originally intended location.
Thanks to my meticulously-maintained RSVP list, we were able to advise participants of the change in location, and most moved with us to the new venue.
The space was perfect, and about 25 families and nearly 40 children gathered to celebrate halloween together -- it was strange to be speaking fluent English all night with people here in Argentina!
The kids had a great time trick-or-treating (for some of the little ones, this was their first halloween ever!), and it was neat to finally try out the Buenos Aires candy, which we'd not yet availed ourselves of. There was also a copiously planned scavenger hunt activity for the older kids. (Tats was still hidden away in her little "cabin", putting the finishing touches on the clues, as guests began pouring in at 6:30 p.m. -- as an aside, you know you're at an ex-pat event when people actually show up ON TIME instead of several hours late, lol!!!)
Thanks to all who contributed to the success of this evening's event: The decorations were fabulous, the costumes were fun, and it was great to make so many new friends here in BA!
