I am Writing a recount of a presentation we did at a school. We Told the kids about Canadian Thanksgiving. 1st we told where we were from and then we showed a video about the first Nations and Early Settlers meeting for the first time. 2nd me and Simon told what is,who celebrates, history of,traditions of Thanksgiving. Finally the students had to write sentences about Thanksgiving.
Thanks for your questions, I am going to answer some of them here. If you have more questions or comments, reply to this post by leaving a comment, and I will write another blog post.
You asked about the zoo... At the zoo, we saw an orangutan. He was orange and hairy and he was being teased by another customer with a tic tac box. The guy was rattling the tic tacs box, and the organgutan was reaching out his hand, waving it back and forth as if he was saying, "hand it over!" and he opened his mouth as if he was saying, "throw it in"! I am not sure exactly how tall the falls are, but they were waaaaaay bigger than Niagara! The weather is like 40 degrees in summer time, and summer is in January, because the seasons are switched around, so when it is winter in Canada, it is summer in Argentina. We crossed the line called the equator, and that's where everything flip flops. January and Febrary until March is when it is really hot, but we won't be there for about a month of that, so it won't be really, really hot. Because I am coming home for Christmas and Santa will still be there, so I will see you all in December and January. We are going to dress up as Batman and Robin for Halloween and fight crime at the "Cathedral" subway station, which looks kind of like Gotham City at night. Every time we find one of our "crimes" (our moms), they are going to give us candy! We're going to trick or treat down here, even though most people don't celebrate halloween down here, the Great Pumpkin will still be here! We got a new app called "Explain Everything", and I used it to show how I made a toothpick triangle. In this video, you will hear me telling about the angles and sides. I want to make more videos with this app, and learn how to use the laser pointer feature. For example, I could make a cartoon video with stick people and the laser!
You can see all the mini-figures all at once. That's why I like it. GET THE BOOK!
I got a new app called Hands on Math Base Ten Blocks! I like using base ten blocks in real life because they're so chunky and I like playing with them. I use them to show place value and addition and subtraction. So I thought I would try this app, because we don't have any real Base Ten blocks with us here in Argentina. This app is almost as good as the real thing. It has Base Ten blocks that you can move around and put in the right category. You can trade them in for bigger blocks by clicking a green arrow. You can also make the app ask questions by clicking the question mark button and change the difficulty if it's too easy. You can also just have fun with it. GET THE APP!!! It's one month now! So what's the scoop. Well...
First we got locked in the garage,we saw there's barley any green space, went on our 1st trip to the zoo and found a lot ICE CREAM. Next week we went to Igazu Falls. It was fun. After that we started school, found a resort and planed Halloween. Cool month! Last week I went on a trip to Iguazu Falls up in the north-eastern part of Argentina, and this is kind of like my travel journal of that trip. Monday Night - On the Bus On Monday night we went to the bus port because we were going to Iguazu Falls. The bus had 2 levels and we sat on the top level. We fell asleep quickly. Mom bought me and Simon each a sticker book about batman for the 18 hour bus ride! Tuesday morning - On the bus On Tuesday morning I woke up and breakfast came quickly on the bus. The breakfast was not that good, they didn't have any fresh fruit. After we had breakfast and then did school with our mom. After school me and Simon played and then the bus arrived at one pm. Tuesday afternoon - At our renting room Tuesday afternoon when we we got there we went into our room but the land lady forgot the key. We eventually fond the key. Our room was surprisingly big and our beds had cheetah blankets on them. I had a good sleep that night. Wednesday - At the falls On Wednesday we went to Iguazu Falls... They were way bigger then Niagara and I really wanted to go swimming but I couldn't because it would be too dangerous. The falls sounded like they were singing and I was wet as a soggy hot dog. I'm bringing back a map to show my class. Thursday Morning - At the Bio-Centre Thursday morning we left our renting room and went to the Biocentre and saw lots of animals. At the Biocentre they had snakes, armadillos and lizards. After that we had lunch. Thursday and Friday - Bus Ride Home
On the bus we did school with our mom and we watched a movie. I didn't fall asleep until 10 because Simon was bothering me. When I woke up the next morning I thought about what a great trip we had to Iguazu Falls. |
